My love for boating began as a child at my parents’ cottage on Gun Lake, Michigan. As a young man the love and appreciation continued weather I was on the Mosey, a 28 ft sailboat, or one of my many powerboats. In meeting my wife Margie, our first date way back in 1978 was on Gun Lake in my little 15 ft tunnel bottom boat, powered by a high performance engine. The purchase in 2001 of our quad-drive Cary 50 has only continued my love and passion for all things boating and all things boat repair.
It was because of the love of boating and high performance cars that I opened Gun Lake Performance in 1980, and operated it for 30 years. During that time I had many opportunities to service all aspects of the marine industry, as well as understand that a successful business requires having associates that feel they are appreciated, and above all else, having satisfied customers.
My wife and I bought our first cruiser boat in 1998, and thus began our love of marina life. Our son, who is now 31 and our daughter , now 26, have many wonderful memories of spending time at a marina. Our daughter and her husband now enjoy boating and marina life in their home city. We’ve learned a lot from the many marinas that we have stayed at over the years, and I am excited to carry the many positive experiences to my new position as marina manager with Great Lakes Marina. Having been a slip renter here at Great Lakes in the past, we fell in love with the marina and the people that slip their boats here, and the surrounding community.
It is with great excitement that I take on the task of making Great Lakes Marina the Place to Be in Muskegon. I welcome you to stop by and see our beautiful marina. I know you’ll be impressed with how helpful and knowledgeable our associates are, and my goal is that what you will take with you is a wonderful experience that comes from being around great boat owners.
